Whistler Select Family Rides First Peak to Peak Gondola
George Huxtable (age 89) was chosen to be the first person on the new Whistler Blackcomb Peak to Peak Gondola. George is the father of Gordy Huxtable, Whistler Select Accommodation's VP of Operations.
George was a contest winner presented by Whistler Blackcomb Mountains. The "Living the Dream" contest took off on Monday, January 19 and will last until Sunday, April 11 2008. The rules are simple - the Whistler Blackcomb Unlimited Season passholder who skis or rides the most days, wins. George skied 99 out of the 99 days of the contest!
The story gets better as Gordy and Ryder (Gord's 3 year old son and George's grandson) will be representing 3 generations of Huxtable's on the first gondola December 12, 2008
The first gondola will leave the top of Blackcomb and end up at the top of Whistler Mountain were a celebration party will be occur. Learn more about George's trip on the Whistler Blackcoimb Peak to Peak Gondola website.
When asked about this year's contest, George responded confidently. "Of course I'm going to try to win this contest again. I skied this much before the contest and I will continue to ski every day!" He went on, "I'm in for the competition. I'm a skier and a glider and I always want to go higher and faster than the other guys!"
